We made two demos (Shadowplay & Nameless) before the album sessions. Jejo replaced Freden(drums) when it was time to record at the Soundtrade studio in Stockholm. Per Aldeheim (It’s Alive) produced it, Ronny Lahti engineered.
We played Via Rock in Belgium, Headbanger’s Ball did a feature - I have it on video somewhere... I remember the trip down there was great, we’d rented a van and slept for a couple of hours in Eindhoven on the way down. We came to the festival around 1pm, showtime at 3pm...we thought. It was 2pm, so we just carried all the backline to the stage and a couple of minutes later we were playing.
Venom were supposed to headline, but Mercyful Fate replaced them. Strange mix of bands, Warrant and Glenn Hughes amongst others...
Leif brought back the rented van on monday morning, we had driven 3500 kilometers - not what the van company had expected.
That summer we also played at what nowadays is called Sweden Rock Festival. Black Sabbath headlined, but I had a show with John Norum the next day and had to catch an early flight, so I never saw them.
Apart from those festivals, we only played three more shows in Stockholm and Gothenburg.
In 1996-97, we started recording a new album at the Sunlight Studio in Stockholm with Jörgen Cremonese producing.
Different circumstances made the album sound like shit and eventually there was no money left to fix it.
Leif later used some of the songs for the Candlemass album ”Dactylis Glomerata”. The 2006 re-release of DG includes the Abstrakt sessions as a bonus disc.
